Singers of christian songs and traditional chants by choirs and groups of men, women, school children and village people sung in languages in Kilivila (kij) of Kiriwina and Mailu (mgu) of Central Province.
Sounds of weeping and wailing at time of burial of a village man, Philomen at grave site after service conducted.
Sounds of songs, drums and traditional dances performed on the occasion of visit to Kiriwina local villages by Minister of External Territories, Mr Barnes.
About the traditional chanting and weeping;
The chanting to the spirits are all in many different approaches to either calling to the death relatives to bring them some peace and comfort or chanting to bring Kula Trade luck to the men that involves the shell money that goes around from island to island in the Milne Bay Province, not just in the Trobriand islands safety during the winds and waves at sea to arrival at various destinations.
The other traditional weeping is for the chief clan only, for their dead relatives. The weeping or chanting is different to the ordinary people. They do have professional mourners who can do the chanting and weeping together. They also chant about his garden and how prosperous he is with his garden skills etc.

Storytelling of Legends and Myths of tribal history and how the village came to existence with sounds of the Cone Shells. Singing of Prophet song in Motu (meu) and Stringband sounds and singing calling out to spirit world and past generations for protection and prosperity.
The collection item is typical and represents the various communities across the Trobriand Islands. Updated Title, Description and Subject/Content languages and new role of user in Grace Hull as translator and language assistant.
Storytelling of Legends and Myths of tribal history and how the village came to existence with sounds of the Cone Shells. Singing of Prophet song in Motu (meu) brought in by missionaries on christianity which also involves dancing and Stringband sounds, singing in Kilivila (kij) and dancing celebrating their achievements.
The story is about Tudava, who saved his tribe in the hands of (Dokanikani (a man eat being) and how he killed the Dokanikani and how his tribe paid respect towards him, by giving him young women as his wives. Which he accepts but refuses with all other precious gifts they brought him. He then happily moved to other village, there he lived with his wives happily till this day according to the story.

Description
Traditional chanting, drums and singing calling out to spirit world and past generations of the dead ancestors for the spiritual connection, protection, comfort, prosperity of the people and nourishment to the land and soil, for rain for planting and good season harvests.
The traditional drums called Kasausau and Katuniniva are used for dancers performed in a circle with full traditional dressings.
The singing and the chanting are all about their Kula trading of valuables for social status and recognition. They go in voyages to and from island to island and the danger they face in the Ocean with high seas so they chants to the spirits to help them surf the rough seas to safety.

Chanting continues with young girls and boys during yam harvest time and dancing along with after they have collected the yams from the fields and taking them to the villages and placed in yam huts then celebrating the harvest.
