Description

This item comprises four edited compiles and matching audio exports of video recordings made at Galawdjapin and Garttji on 7 October 2015with Gary Madjibarrili Smith, Ad Djulipirri, Craig Elliott, Aung Si and Margaret Carew. We walk around both sites and Ad and Gary explain some cultural matters. This includes a men-only visit to Bunyundjarrkawuritjin. Gary talks about the encounter history of Garttji, involving the killing of Djinang and Wurlaki people and the theft of body parts. There is a hollow log at Garttji left from a repatriation ceremony a few years prior to our visit and Gary and Ad discuss the designs on this. The key motif is djanambal 'freshwater catfish', which is a regional Yirritjingi moiety emblem and song topic. Both low res mp4s and master quicktime files are provided. There are also annotation files for these edits. Also refer to item called: 2015_Marrangu_session_notes.
