All items "04" refer to Lena Yarinkura and Bob Burruwal making a message stick from a piece of scrap wood from the back of the house. Using an axe, a file and a rasp. As they work they talk about how message sticks are used. In PK3-04-BB_LY01.MP4 Lena uses a file to sharpen a large hacksaw blade ahead of making a message stick.

Description

In all items "05 "Piers Kelly shows Lena Yarinkura and Bob Burruwal museum images of message sticks that are likely to have been collected in Western Arnhem Land but with no surviving metadata. The purpose is to try to retrieve and record relevant cultural information. Piers Kelly shows Lena Yarinkura and Bob Burruwal the news clip from the ABC about message stick sent from Maningrida to NT Department of Education . Image of message stick in news clip is also presented. Piers Kelly later asks if he can play a clip from Margaret Carew of England B telling a story about message sticks Lena fetches a nephew of England B (also named Margaret) to listen to the recording.
