This is a bit slow at the beginning but parts with the oranges and the donkey who is sitting outside the door is interesting. MS was mic-ed but quiet. JS is upset. This is a shame because TB was great. She made up a story for the kids with the toys. This was recorded in the shed near the women's bowshade. The kids are very active. DZ and RA are running around with their own game. They settle down a bit towards the end. TB also read the story book. Samantha's backyard doing bush medicine with the kids because they have colds. This is a pretty natural video. Curley has the mike and she is doing a lot of the cooking. There is another mother and child there too. Lots of talking that isn't just child directed. We used manyanyi, kurrijkaji and marlarn to smoke the kids. The adults also smoked themselves. The leaves were piled on the fire together. The smoke was for ngajkula (diahorroea) and badkol (mucus).

DZ and RA are running around with their own game. They settle down a bit towards the end. TB also read the story book. (Video content) This recording was filmed in the Batchelor donger. Airconditioning was turned off. This is a bit slow at the beginning but parts with the oranges and the donkey who is sitting outside the door is interesting. MS was mic-ed but quiet. JS is upset. Most of the action is with SS and LD. The blocks are not used. The dolls received a bit of attention. They were given the names of the immediate family. The minidisc has picked up MS's speech and the video camera should have picked up SS more. Only 20min transcribed because audio file has peak clipped. Has the name of a deeased person. 30:40min.

At the crossing. CR is walking around talking to the kids as they are collecting martiya (bush gum) and jangarla (tree) what to call a particular plant (they call it kajkuru but this is the word for pandanus). They find some kalnga too (red ochre). There is a lot of talk, with CS and hard Gurindji. CR spends a lot of time trying to convince the kids not to throw rocks at the fish - for fear of disturbing the rainbow serpent other fish and crocodiles.
