Description

Interview in samoan about samoan language and society in 2016 in the village of Neiafu-Tai on Savai'i in Samoa (formerly Western Samoa). Contains reading of minimal pairs wordlist for vowels (see wordlist-file in collection). Recording includes informant reading “Frog where are you?” by Mercer from 1969. Contains significant portions of other stories or longer general conversation. Recording includes biographical details about birthplace, siblings, education etc. See Skirgård’s PhD thesis from 2021 and supplementary material H1 for sociolinguistic-questionnaire. Local assistant present (Melenesa). Main researcher (Hedvig Skirgård) left for part of the recording and local assistant conducted recording. Not transcribed
