Description

(A) Speaker talking in Tok Pisin. Recorded in 1975. (B) Indistinct conversation and talking in unknown language, not Tok Pisin. Child crying. Trimmed at 2 mins. Side A & B: Conversations was about grievances between the Waghi community leaders and researcher (Marie Reay) and some misunderstanding and communications between her in Canberra and the people of her research work. People felt she was not helping them is their lives and business opportunities which was out of her scope but assured them of ideas, information from government officials (kiaps) but not financial support. Their concerns and issues were later resolved and research work continued. (Steven Gagau, August 2022)
