Description

Speaker recites a traditional song of the Yi ethnicity in Southern Nisu (NSD) language. Although he is himself a native speaker of Luodie Phola (YPG), he is also a fluent speaker in present day Southern Nisu (NSD). Moreover, he is an animistic shaman in the bimoist tradition (毕摩) of the Yi ethnic group. Hence, he is well-versed in Yi traditions including the medieval Yi script used for ritualistic purposes. He uses a written version of the song as a memory aid that he himself crafted for this occasion. No musical accompaniment.
