Description

In this recording, Tonny (Tonzah) Warama [TTW] reads a written version of a story originally told by Minong Kidarga [MKK]. Kate Lindsey transcribed the recording using the written text as a guide, interlinearized it in FLEx, and exported it to ELAN. The story tells the tale of two friends Dog and Cuscus. The two are playing and Dog plays a trick on Cuscus, leading to his cutting off Cuscus' ears. In the end of the story, they curse each other, which is why dogs must scrounge for leftovers and cuscus must hide in trees from hunters.
