Description

Translation (Seng Pan) The story I am going to tell you is about a butterfly and Nambya (the animal that always lies to all the others). A long time ago, there were a butterfly and Nambya. The animal, Nambya, always lied and exploited other animals. He lied to everybody. One day, he borrowed a knife from the butterfly. Then the butterfly asked, "What will you do with the knife?" "To take out the fatty layer from the pork," Nambya answered. "What would you do with the fat?" the butterfly asked. "I will make a kind of medicine," Nambya answered. "What kind of medicine?" the butterfly asked again. However, Nambya did not answer this time. "Butterfly! Borrow a knife to me! What is it for? To take out the fat. What would you do with the pig fat? To make a medicine," Nambya said. The animal, Nambya, always lied in all conditions. There was no time Nambya did not lie. All the other animals said, "You are Nambya, aren't you? You would become Nambya." Jinghpaw people also used to say it. This is the end of the story about a butterfly and Nambya.
