Description

Translation (Htoi Awng) The story I'm going to tell is about a soldier who guarded a cemetery. In the past time, there were cemeteries. The poor, the rich and royal families were buried in different cemeteries. The soldiers guarded those cemeteries. They had to stand still without moving a bit. They can't even blink. Even when there was heavy rain, they couldn't move a bit. The senior soldiers said to them, "If there is heavy rain, you can stay under a shelter to protect yourself from rain or storm." But the guards (soldiers) didn't want to do that. No matter how strong the wind was or how heavy the rain was, they stood still and guarded the cemetery. The commander asked them, "My comrades, why are you trying so hard to guard this cemetery? You don't need to guard these graves all the time." They said, "No, we won't stop guarding this cemetery. People who were buried in this cemetery are our benefactors. They ruled us, led us and did great things for us. We protect their graves because we want to show and pay our gratitude." So, we should pay our gratitude to our parents and the people who help us. Transcription (Lu Awng) Ya ngai hkai na maumwi gaw lup sin ai hpyenla langai a lam re.
