Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were four ladies. They went to collect the wood in the jungle. It was a rainy day. So, they took a rest under a tree near a chief's house and said, "Our lives are so difficult. I wish my parents didn't give birth to me. Then, we don't need to suffer this much." Another one agreed with her and blamed her parents. Meanwhile, the chief was sitting in front of the window and heard everything they talked about. Then, the chief called them, "Hey! Where are you going?" The women answered, "We are coming back from the jungle after collecting some wood. The chief invited them, "Come in. I will prepare the best dishes for you." He prepared many kinds of food on the table. But, he covered something under a bowl in the middle of the table. He told the women, "You can eat as much as you can. Only one thing! Don't open that bowl. You can't eat that." Then, he went out of the dining room. The women ate all the delicious meals. After eating, they were curious about the thing under that bowl. They said, "Let's take a look under it." Then, they decided to open it. As soon as they opened it, four or five sparrows flew away. They quickly regretted their action. They knew that they made a mistake. They said, "Let's catch the sparrows and put them back under the bowl." While they were catching the sparrows hurriedly, the chief entered the room. He asked them, "What are you doing?" They confessed, "We are so sorry. We didn't listen to you. We opened the bowl, although you said we shouldn't." The chief scolded them, "You all suffer a lot because you did not listen to what your parents told you to do. But, you didn't think it is your mistake. You even blame your parents! I said not to open the bowl. You can't even listen to my words. Why did you open it? You can't see your mistake. Instead, you blamed the others."
