Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story is about 'a priest who is a liar'. While a group of brothers were building a raft, it was getting dark. So, they decided to raft the next morning. The following morning, they went to their raft and prepared to row the raft down. But it didn't move a bit although they tried so hard to row. They thought to ask a nat priest why this kind of thing happened to them. The nat priest said, "A nat spirit did it! Your raft will not move a bit because a nat is pulling it. You should prepare some fermented rice and pig to give that nat as an offering. So that, you can row your raft down." The siblings believed him and held a festival for nat spirits. The nat priest knew that people worshipped nats and believed them so much. In fact, he secretly tied their raft with the strongest rope last night. After the boys had held a nat festival by giving many offerings, the nat priest secretly went to the river and cut the rope that he tied to the raft. And he said to the boys, "Tomorrow, your raft will move because nat spirits appreciate your offerings." The next morning, the boys could row their raft down easily.
