Description

Translation (Seng Pan) Once upon a time, a prince and a princess loved each other so much. But they hadn't got married yet. At that time, the prince always put his cat and dog to work. He let them carry the things and sent to the princess. They also delivered his letters. One day, he asked them to deliver a ring to the princess. He gave a ring to each one and let them go to her. On the way, they had to cross a stream. When the dog reached the stream, he saw a reflection in the water. As he barked at it, the ring that he gripped with his teeth fell into the water. So, he lost his master's ring for the princess. The cat also gripped the ring with his teeth. However, he didn't take a look at the water. He crossed the stream by jumping on the stones. Finally, he could deliver the ring to the princess. And the princess received the present well. But the one which was taken by the dog was lost in the water. When they got back to the prince, he asked, "Did my princess already receive the ring?" "No, I've lost it in the water," the dog answered. "I gave it to your princess," the cat replied. "Cat, from now on, you will be able to stay in the house since you are clever. But the dog, you stay outside because you are so reckless," the prince ordered. The dog was placed to stay in front of the house and he let the cat stay inside. Transcription (Lu Hkawng) Moi shawng de da ndai hkawhkam shayi hte hkawhkam shadang sha gaw grai tsawra hkat ai da.
