Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell is about a farmer and his three sons. Once upon a time, there were a father and his three sons in a village. They were farmers. He owned three acres of the farm. He thought of letting his sons work there. But his sons didn't want to work there. They wanted to work in a big town or city. One day, the father told his sons, "Work on the farm, which I own, this year." All sons refused to work on the farm. They told him, "We don't want to work there." He told them, "If you want to work in a city, you will have to work on the farm first. I will let the one who earns lots of money by farming go to the city to work." Then, the three brothers were working hard to get a chance to go to the city. After one year, they got a tremendous amount of rice grains. They earned a lot of money. They told their father, "Dad, we earn a great amount of money this year." The father told them, "That's great. Then, each of you takes one more acre of farm and plants there too. You have to work there for three years." They could produce much rice that year too. Three years later, their father died. But they earned a great amount of money that year. This year, they got more money than the past two years. Then, the brothers discussed, "If we went to the city and worked there, we might be poor. But dad ordered us to work here. In the past, we planted rice plants only on this three-acre farm. Now, we have got a lot. Why don't we sell this farm and help the poor?" They all agreed and helped the poor after selling their farm.
