Description

Translation (Htoi San) The story is about the naughty monkey Maidut. A long time ago, there was a troop of monkeys in a forest. In that troop, there was a monkey called “Maidut.” This monkey "Maidut" was very playful and naughty. Maidut liked to turn upside down and teased the others, such as when someone talked about something, and he was redoing exactly again and again. When someone did something, he repeated that action again and again. Due to his habit, his friends warned him, "If you act like this and naughty like this, you will be in trouble one day." After his friends warned him, he echoed what his friends said to him, "If you act like this and naughty like this, you will be in trouble one day." His friends were angry, and they did not talk to him about it as he made fun of it. One day, he swung here and there around the trees by himself and reached the place a bit far from his friends. While he was on top of a tree, two men passed under the tree where he was. They rested under that tree as they were passing through it. While they were resting there, they ate their food, meat and drank alcohol that they brought. They consumed alcohol, talked, and laughed; then, they rested there. As Maidut was the naughty one, he went very near to them and watched them closely. Even though he was watching them not far, they did not see him. They just did whatever they liked as they overlooked Maidut. They wanted to rest, then rested to release their tiredness, and they wanted to eat, then ate. After that, they continued their journey and left the place. While the two men left, this little monkey climbed down quickly from the tree, and he did the same as those men did. He smoked the cigarette, ate the food, and drank the alcohol out of the bottle of the last drop of it. He did as his habits, and later, he was drunk as he drank the alcohol. He, regardlessly shouted, laughed, and did stupid things as he was drunk. After he acted all these and he fell asleep there. Two hunters were passing by that place. The hunters walked the whole day, and they were tired. "Friend, let's rest here for a while as we are so tired," said one hunter to another hunter. "Ok. Sure. It looks like other people also rested here. Let's plan to rest," the other hunter replied. While they were about to sit, they saw a monkey sleeping under that tree. They both shot that monkey simultaneously, pulled apart nicely, grilled, and ate it at that place. They were satisfied even though they traveled for the whole day and did not get any prey. Because they could easily shoot a monkey here and eat it; then they could get home happily. Like that monkey in this story, he did react like the others and naughty; he had to give his life.
