Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a man who could not live without lying at least one time in a year. He was serving a rich man. The man told lies very often. Then, the rich man couldn't stand him anymore and ordered one of his guards, "Catch the man who often tells lies and sell him in the market. Try to sell him by telling people that he is a hard-working man." Then, the guard told as his master said. The guard tied the lier tight and was shouting, "I'm selling a servant! He is hard-working, but he has one bad habit. It is..." At that time, one rich man heard him shouting while walking around the market. He thought, "Why do they want to sell this kind of hard-working man!? But the guard said that that man had a bad habit. I will ask him about it." Then, he went near them. The guard explained, "This servant cannot live any single day without telling lies. So, our master didn't like him and wanted to sell him." But, the rich man didn't think that telling a lie once a year was a big deal. So, he bought the servant. The rich man let the new servant who told lies work in his mansion. The servant worked really hard. Then, it had been almost one year that he worked for his new master. It was time for him to tell lies. One day, the rich man prepared to hold a big celebration in his beautiful garden. He had invited all of his rich friends. On that day, he ordered his servant, "Escort my wife!" The servant said politely, "Yes, I will." When he got to the mansion where the rich man's wife lived, he lied, "My lady, I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, my master and his guards died since the mansion had fallen over them. Come quickly! I will go check my master again." Then, he raced to the rich man and lied to him, "My lord, your wife and your children are dead because of landslide." The master was very worried about his wife and his children. So, he said, "Let's go there quickly!" Meanwhile, the lady and her children were worried about the lord and ran to check the situation. Then, the master and his wife met on the way. The master was surprised to see his wife and his children. Then, he asked, "Why are you running!?" The wife answered, "I heard that you died because you were stuck under the building!" The rich man was shocked and asked, "Who told you!?" She pointed at the servant and said, "It's him!" The rich man said, "I only ordered him to escort all of you." Then, his wife was very angry. So, she told her husband to kill that servant. The rich man asked the servant, "Why did you lie to us!?" The servant pitifully explained, "I have already informed you that I have a terrible habit. I can't live without lying at least once a year. And it is already one year that I have stayed here. So, I lie to you. It's not my fault." Then, the rich man remembered that. He bought that servant despite knowing his bad habit. So, he decided not to kill him but exiled him. Transcription (La Ring) Um mayu hte dama.
