Description

Translation (Htoi Awng) The story I am going to tell is about a dragon and a human. Long time ago, people did farming along Malihka river bank. They planted pumpkins. They grew pumpkins along the river. Then, the dragon usually came to eat the juice from the blossom of pumpkins. He went there after transforming into a boy. Then, the dragon saw a girl who was farming there and fell in love with her. They met when she went to the farm and they lived together. After some time, she was pregnant. She carried his baby, and her parents asked her about it. They asked, "Who is the father? Who made you pregnant?" But she did not say anything. Later, she gave birth to a baby boy. And her parents kept asking her that who the baby's father was. Finally, she said that the father of the baby usually went into the water. When she told about it, her parents knew that it was the dragon's baby. When the child grew up, he often asked, "Who is my father?" His mother only answered, "You don't have a father. I got you when I was farming." When the child became a grown up person, he insisted on asking about that. So, the mother told him, "Your father lives in water." Then, he went to the river to find his father because he really wanted to meet his father. He sat near the river the whole day and said, "I want to see my father." While he was sitting there, the dragon showed up in front of him. He said, "Ah! It's you. You are my father." He tried to catch the dragon, but he couldn't. Since then, he knew that the dragon was his father. "Mom! The dragon is my father and I saw him. You said that he lives in the river, so I found him. How did you get pregnant with the dragon which is not even a human?" he told his mom. The mother said, "My son, I grew some pumpkins near the river in the past. And your father usually came to eat those pumpkins. We met there and had you." Since she did farming there, she got pregnant with the dragon. Our elders used to say this story. Tanghpre villagers can prove that it is true story. There are many temptations of the evil on people, and people are easily deceived and tempted. In the past, Kachin people worshipped nat spirits. But, now is different. We worship Mighty God. We are religious. In any matter, we should trust in God and rely on God. We must try to overcome all the temptations by the name of the God. I want to tell you that by mentioning the old story. Transcription (Lu Hkawng) Ya ngai hkai na gaw tsun na gaw Baren hte shinggyim masha a lam hpe tsun na re.
