Today, the new generations need to know a lot about it. The first thing is that when you plan to get married, it is not a story and we are still practicing today, the first thing you have to do is that you have to pay prices to the bride's side for sending the bride, which is called Yu Sa Ja. You have to do Bwimung bwitsang gayen, which means you have to go to the bride's house carefully. There is also still another price called Ningsin Ja. Regarding the prices to pay for a bride, paying a traditional necklace means that our ancestors were not educated in the past, - today we know that how many months of pregnancy - but our ancestors did not know about it so they used the necklace to count the pregnancy period. One necklace counts for one month. There are different parts in a necklace with different colours. After counting the necklace eight and nine times, the woman gives birth. Thus, the traditional necklace was an essential dowry item to pay for a bride in the past among the Kachin people. When a baby began inside the womb of the mother, the people started counting the necklace. Later, we could just know how to count the pregnancy period from my grandparent's era. Our ancestors told us so. It is number fifteen.
