Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Although we are old, we can't only think of ourselves. We should be considerate and think for others too. Even though that is only fruit, we should plant for next generation. In the past, our elders planted lots of trees at the highland area. That is the best gift which we could do for next generations. Long time ago, there was an eighty-year-old grandpa in a village. He was planting many mango trees in the field. While he was planting mango seeds, a young king was passing the field by horse. The king said, "Grandpa, why are you planting those seeds in this old age? You are not going to have a chance to eat those fruits!" Then, the old man replied, "It doesn't matter if I could eat these fruits or not. I plant them for next generation. Our elders also planted these mangoes, so I could eat these mangoes. Try some." And he continued, "Just like I could eat these fruits which were planted by our elders, I am trying so hard to plant these mangoes for our next generation." The young king said, "You are so considerate. You have such a beautiful mind." And he gave his precious ring to the grandpa. That's why we shouldn't only think of ourselves. (When I get old, I should do something for next generation too.) I would like to tell that we should do some good things for our next generation when we have time.
