Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Many years ago, there was a woman who lived in Tanghpre village where is in Kachin State and it's a village near the Confluence. She had got a baby. She was doing the washing while her baby was sleeping. She put the baby just behind her beside the river. Her baby was not there where she put when she looked back after she had done the washing. Then she cried out loudly as she got a shock. She cried out loudly by calling upon the deities. Suddenly the sky was darkened, there were thunder and lightning, and the wind blew hard. The thunder struck on the high mountain where the baby was. That mountain was in Tanghpre near the Confluence. Today, there is a mark of thunder striking on that mountain. Then, the baby was floated and flown along the river "Mali Hka" just in front of the mother. The baby was floated along with white horse. The mother took the baby as the white horse floated down the river. But the baby was already dead. The mother carried her baby and went back. There is that kind of story in Kachin stories.
