Description

Translation (Seng Pan) Long time ago, there were a widow and her two sons. The elder son was three years old and the young one was two. The widow passed away while her sons were still so young. So, they had to prepare food for themselves. As the elder son planned to cook rice, he tried to light a fire. However, the flames didn't burst since he didn't know how to make wood-burning fire. Even though they wished to prepare food for themselves after their mother died, it didn't burst into flames. And it only produced smoke. So, they couldn't cook rice. Their mother's soul assumed a bird look and looked at them by sitting on a tree. The bird made a sound, "Burn the wood in Criss cross pattern! Burn the wood in Criss cross pattern!" Then the younger son said, "Brother, it said to burn the wood in Criss cross pattern." So, the elder son did the same as his brother said. It burst into flames and they could cook their meals. By seeing that, the mother felt relief and transcended to the other world. That's why the mother is someone who still cares about her children even in the life after death.
