Description

Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This story is about pig and cat. One day, a pig and a cat went to the forest. They were best friends. When they walked in forest trail, when they walked in forest trail one day, when they walked and walked through the forest, after a while, the cat was caught in a trapping pit which a hunter set. When the cat was caught, it told the pig, "My friend, please help me. Put the rope down to me, here." Then the pig put the rope down. When the pig put the rope down, the cat was so angry. It was so angry and told the pig, "You put the rope down, but how can I climb up?! How can I climb up?! If you want to save me, you have to hold one end of the rope so that I can climb up. See! How can I climb up now?" The cat told, "Hold one end of the rope, my friend." When it told like that, the pig jumped down into the trapping pit. When the pig jumped down, the cat hugged the pig and cried. (It's because it had got a friend who will be together in a trap now.) What this story wants to tell us is that there are some friends, may be they won't be too clever, but they will be together with us till the end of our lives on this world. This story highlights this. Transcription (Lu Awng) Ya na maumwi gaw wa hte nyau na maumwi rai nga. Kalang mi da, ndai wa hte nyau gaw i, nam sa ai hku rai nga.
