Description

Translation (Seng Pan) The story is about a frog from a buffalo's footprint cleft. When the cows walk, their footprint clefts were left behind. Cow and buffalo are not the same. The way the buffaloes walk makes a small pile of soil behind their footprint cleft. But the cows walk carelessly. A frog from a buffalo's footprint cleft means a frog living in the cleft. A frog laid eggs and had babies in the buffalo's footprint cleft. One day it said, "Kids, don't go anywhere while I am not here!" When it left, a buffalo stepped on the cleft. Some tadpoles were dead. The biggest creature they had seen was only their mother frog. When their mother frog arrived back, they said, "Mom, today a very big creature stepped on us and killed some of our siblings." Then it made its body bigger and asked, "Is it this much big?" Its babies replied that it was bigger than its size. So, it made itself bigger than before again. But the babies still denied. As the mother frog made itself so big, its body exploded at last and it died. Even though this story is amused and short, the message I want to give is that we should not compete with the thing we must not. In the story, the mother frog said, "There is no one bigger than me." So, its babies thought it was the biggest. This story is what we call the frog from the buffalo's footprint cleft.
