Description

I am checking Napu's Kilokaka worlist with the named consultant. Prior to this documentation project, the only available language data on Blablanga were Tryon & Hackman’s (1983) sound correspondences analysis and comparative wordlist; a two-page grammatical sketch of Zazao (Kilokaka) in Ray (1926: 532-534); and a Kilokaka vocabulary collected at the beginning of the 20th century by Ben Napu and later published as Napu (1953).The list uses complicated and misleading transcription conventions but close analysis with native speakers reveals that the language is the same as the one currently spoken in the Kilokaka area. Not the entire list is discussed on tape. On a different occasion, I checked the entire list with chief Nason Kongaghita.
