Description

The calesa (decorated horsedrawn carriage) parade and Bukanegan poetry recital were part of the Vigan festival. "Bukanegan" is a style of verse debate in Ilocano, named in honour of Pedro Bukaneg, an early Ilocano poet. The topic of this debate was "is it worth saving the Ilocano language?". The Chinese opera was performed as part of a purification ceremony for a building site in Vigan, where there is a Chinese community. The group was visiting from Manila. Stopped after a few minutes of Chinese opera. DVD version continues on VT9502-B (chinese opera) complete.
